Baby Sharks! and Mangroves

This excursion visits the nonprofit Bimini Biological Field Station Foundation (aka the Shark Lab). Its mission is to advance our knowledge of the biology of marine animals, especially the heavily impacted elasmobranch fish fauna (sharks and rays); to educate future scientists; and to disseminate research results to advance the field of marine science and conservation biology, while raising public perception and awareness of sharks and other marine species.

Skeptoid expert Gillian Barber is an Education & Watershed Protection Specialist at Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (also a nonprofit), which works to educate, advocate and secure the protection and stewardship of the Chattahoochee River. (Work done at that organization helped inform Skeptoid episode #920 The Headless Goats of the Chattahoochee.) During the July 8 on-board mini conference, Gillian will be presenting on The Hidden Wonders of Mangroves and Sargassum. On this excursion, she will further explore the unique biology and enormous ecological importance of mangroves.

Space is limited to just 16 people. Please note there will be NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS AVAILABLE for this entire excursion. Nor does the lab have air conditioning. Please plan to go several hours without A/C or facilities.
