Adam Slagell

Adam Slagell is Chief Security Officer at the Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) and previously led the Cybersecurity and Networking Directorate as CISO at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). For over 20 years his work spans cybersecurity, networking, and research; he has been Principal/co‑Principal Investigator on several NSF awards and has been a leader in projects such as XSEDE and Zeek (formerly Bro) an open source network security monitor, where he was co-PI and the first Bro/Zeek Leadership Team chair. Mr. Slagell has also written for Skeptoid, the Skeptical Inquirer, the Thinking Person's Guide to Autism, and spoke at James Randi's The Amaz!ng Meeting. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana‑Champaign (2003), an M.S. in Mathematics (2000), and a B.S. in Mathematics (1999) from Northern Illinois University.
