Held annually on the steps of the California State Capitol building, California Freethought Day is about "Encouraging freedom of speech and thought, promoting civic engagement, inspiring science enthusiasm, advancing social justice, and supporting the separation of church and state."

Brian Dunning will be receiving the "Beacon of Influence Award" on Sunday, October 11.
