Death Valley 2025

SOLD OUT

Skeptoid presents another Skeptoid Adventure: Death Valley 2025!

THE BASICS: This is an exclusive 3-day exploration of historic Death Valley. All transportation, lodging, and meals are included. The trip departs from Las Vegas, NV on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 21, and returns the afternoon of Friday, October 24.

YOUR GUIDES: Your trip will be hosted by Skeptoid's Brian Dunning and our very own legitimate Death Valley expert, geologist Andrew Dunning, MS, GIT.

This is an adventure trip, not a luxury trip. There will be rough roads. There will be strenuous hikes.

WHAT WILL WE SEE? You will get to see all of the best-known attractions (Badwater, the Artist's Palette, etc.) but so much more. The destinations on this trip will be different from the 2024 trip with minimal crossover.

CAN I MAKE IT? Most of our stops will offer hike opportunities. Some of these will be strenuous (but well worth it). If you can walk a mile on hilly terrain, you should have no trouble. Most locations in Death Valley are NOT wheelchair accessible. It is called Death Valley for a reason, but we'll have an experienced and well prepared staff plus plenty of water and air conditioned vans.

CONDITIONS: Death Valley weather is unpredictable. Temperatures may range from 40°F/5°C to 95°F/35°C. This time of year is generally mild; we do not expect severe temperatures, but never say never with Death Valley.

ACCOMMODATIONS: You will be staying in Beatty, NV, the nearest town to Death Valley, which has the best lodgings that are reasonably available. Remember this is an adventure and learning trip, not a luxury trip!

MORE INFORMATION: Email us at help@skeptoid.com anytime with any questions. All registrants (and all Skeptoid members) can join our Discord channel to discuss the trip, at skeptoid.com/discord. More details will be sent by email as the date approaches.

FAQ

How much? Tickets are all-inclusive, including all meals, lodging and transportation leaving from and returning to Las Vegas. A $500 per person deposit is required now; total price (deposit included) is $1,780 per person double occupancy, and $1,990 per person single occupancy.

Are we going to Racetrack Playa to see the moving stones? No. First, because we did that last year; and second, although it's a highlight, the long drive on the extremely rough road proved to be too much for too many of our Adventurers. We have plenty of other cool stuff.

Where/when do we meet? We will meet at 2:00pm somewhere near downtown Las Vegas (TBD) on October 21, and will return to the same spot mid afternoon on October 24.

Can we join the trip in Beatty instead of Las Vegas? For some people, it may be easier to join the trip in Beatty, NV on Tuesday night and go home from there on Friday morning. Yes! That's totally fine. We can communicate directly about logistics.

Vegan/etc food options? Beatty, NV is not exactly metropolitan but we will find a way to accommodate all dietary restrictions. Please give us advance notice.

Cancellation? There are no refunds after September 30.

A percentage of your ticket is a deductible donation to Skeptoid Media.

Note: Skepticamp Las Vegas begins the same evening we get back to Las Vegas, so you can make this a two-for-one! Brian Dunning will be there, speaking on Area 51.

WARNING.

If you are taken down to The Borax Man's lair and never seen again, Skeptoid Media, Inc. is not liable. There are no refunds for guests taken by The Borax Man.
