Chemtrails: Real or Not?
What you always thought were simply contrails are really dangerous chemicals being sprayed.

Today we're going to put on our Men In Black suits, buy a plane ticket, and spray the world with mysterious chemicals as part of an evil government conspiracy. For today's subject is chemtrails.
Wow. Where to begin. I read a fair amount of skeptical, paranormal, and conspiracy web sites, but I don't recall ever reading so much vituperation, anger, and name calling as when I read a few forums discussing chemtrails. If you're not familiar with the term, chemtrails are what some conspiracy theorists call aircraft condensation trails. Most of them don't believe that conventional contrails exist, and that when you see one, you're actually seeing a trail of mysterious airborne chemicals sprayed from the aircraft. Those who do concede the existence of contrails often claim subtle differences in appearance or behavior between a condensation trail and a chemical trail.
First, let's discuss exactly what a contrail is. A condensation trail, also called a vapor trail, forms at altitudes above 25,000 feet in temperatures below -40 degrees when engine exhaust condenses into ice crystals, creating an artificial cirrus cloud. Water is produced by hydrocarbon burning engines in about the same quantity as fuel consumed, and in the right conditions, this extra addition of water into the air pushes the water vapor past the saturation point, and condensation occurs. It takes a moment to happen, which accounts for the contrail appearing a short distance behind the aircraft, rather than immediately, like you'd see from a smoke pod on an aerobatic plane, or like when a crop duster releases chemicals. Contrails can also be caused at high altitudes by the extreme low pressure areas created by wingtip vortices, which reduce the temperature enough to condense the existing moisture in the air. As previously mentioned, many chemtrail believers claim that there is no such thing as a condensation trail. Since they're well understood, 100% reproducible, and observable practically any time you look into the sky, the onus is really on the believers to prove that no such thing is possible. In my opinion they have quite an uphill battle on this one.
By the way, in case you're wondering whether I meant Celsius or Fahrenheit when I said -40 degrees, here's a bit of science trivia for you. -40 is the point where the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales are the same. If you can figure out where Fahrenheit and Kelvins intersect, go to Skeptoid.com and post it in the forum.
Some chemtrail believers say that the population is being gassed with some unknown chemical for an unknown reason. Others tie into pop culture, suggesting that chemtrails are the active manifestation of one proposal to combat global warming by placing dust into the upper atmosphere to reflect sunlight. One guy told me "You guys are so full of yourselves just can't conceive of spiritual warfare can you? Try this fact: malevolent interdimensional entities are involved — project keep the human slave race suppressed."
Like all conspiracy theories, chemtrails require us to accept the existence of a coverup of mammoth proportions. In this case, virtually every aircraft maintenance worker at every airport in the world needs to be either part of the conspiracy, or living under a threat from Men in Black, with not a single whistle blower or deathbed confession in decades. Yet the threats are not frightening enough to prevent stories like the following from appearing on the Internet:
For reasons you will understand as you read this I can not divulge my identity. I am an aircraft mechanic for a major airline. I work at one of our maintenance bases located at a large airport. One day last month I was called out from our base to work on a plane for another airline. When I got to the plane I found out that the problem was in waste disposal system. When I got into the bay I realized that something was not right. There were more tanks, pumps, and pipes then should have been there. As I tried to find the problem I quickly realized the extra piping and tanks were not connected to the waste disposal system, at all. To my amazement the manuals did not show any of the extra equipment I had seen with my own eyes. I even tied in to the manufacturer files and still found nothing. I could trace the control wires from the box to the pumps and valves but there were no control circuits coming into the unit. The only wires coming into the unit was a power connection to the aircraft's main power bus. The system had 1 large tank and 2 smaller tanks. It was hard to tell in the cramped compartment, but it looked like the large tank could hold about 50 gallons. The tanks were connected to a fill and drain valve that passed through the fuselage just behind the drain valve for the waste system. I discovered that the pipes from this mystery system lead to every 1 out of 3 of the static discharge wicks. These wicks had been "hollowed out" to allow whatever flows through these pipes to be discharged through the fake wicks.
About 30 minutes later I was paged to see the General Manager. When I went in his office I found that our union rep and two others who I did not know were waiting on me. He told me that a serious problem had been discovered. He said that I was being written up and suspended for turning in false paperwork. I sat at home the first day of my suspension wondering what the hell had happened to me. That evening I received a phone call. The voice told me "Now you know what happens to mechanics who poke around in things they shouldn't. The next time you start working on systems that are no concern of yours you will lose your job! As it is, I'm feeling generous, I believe that you'll be able to go back to work soon." CLICK. Well that's it. Now I know 'THEY' are watching me.
Another forum poster replied:
I, too, work for an airline, though I work in upper management levels. I wish I could document everything I am about to relate to you, but to do so is next to impossible and would result in possible physical harm to me. Airline companies in America have been participating in something called Project Cloverleaf for a few years now. The earliest date anyone remembers being briefed on it is 1998. I was briefed on it in 1999. The few airline employees who were briefed on Project Cloverleaf were all made to undergo background checks, and before we were briefed on it we were made to sign non-disclosure agreements, which basically state that if we tell anyone what we know we could be imprisoned. About twenty employees in our office were briefed along with me by two officials from some government agency. They didn't tell us which one. They told us that the government was going to pay our airline, along with others, to release special chemicals from commercial aircraft. When asked what the chemicals were and why we were going to spray them, they told us that information was given on a need-to-know basis and we weren't cleared for it. He seemed perturbed at this question and told us in a tone of authority that the public doesn't need to know what's going on, but that this program is in their best interests. He also stated that we should not tell anyone, nor ask any more questions about it.
I take back my comment about the lack of whistle blowers. It seems that just about everyone is discussing it freely, and since the government is openly laying out virtually all the essential details to 20 people in every airline office in the world with complicity from all the union reps, why the secrecy? If we're truly on the edge of a global warming catastrophe and a worldwide cooperative effort to spray reflective dust into the atmosphere is the only way we can save ourselves, wouldn't a little glasnost be a more effective approach? Of course it would, but then we wouldn't have had those two very exciting and original stories.
If the goal was to drug a population, you'd put the gas where it could reach people, you wouldn't release a minute quantity into the jet stream where it's going to be diluted to undetectable levels and eventually rain into the oceans. If the goal is to put reflective dust into the atmosphere to fight global warming, you'd need to plant it a lot higher than commercial jets can travel if you don't want it to rain right back to earth (in fact you need to put it well up into the stratosphere, not just at the top of the troposphere), and you'd need a lot more than can ever be delivered with 50 gallon tanks. But then, the arguments in favor of chemtrails don't appear to be based on any kind of logic. They appear to be based on nothing more than imagined conspiracies and sightings of visible contrails, which are well understood, and are being left by planes every hour of the day over every city in the world, and have been for over 50 years. It's how the malevolent interdimensional entities remind us of their ominous presence.

How interesting that the comments are skeptical ones. I may not believe anyone is spraying anything, but doesn't anyone care that beautiful, cloudless skies are a thing of the past? How often is there a cloudless sky?? How sad!

Either: (1 you don't know the differences between normal contrails and abnormal ones; (2 you have not studied the differences by the simple expedient of looking into the sky; (3 you are in denial out of some kind of fear; (4 you are a disinformation agent of some kind. For certain, you don't know what you are talking about.

This article is deliberately misleading. Contrails are real. Chemtrails are real. They are not the same thing. What you read about chemtrails on the internet is mostly fiction.
In this piece there were several errors, maybe even downright lies. One was the bit about "believers" usually denying the existence of contrails. Another was the implication that contrails always form above 25k ft. Neither is true. I could go on.
Don't trust this fool, but don't trust me either. Seek the truth and use your own eyes to confirm or refute what you have read - then tell others.

okay mr. skeptic, what about this:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c107:H.R.2977.IH:
bill: HR 2977 Space Preservation Act lists chemtrails as an exotic weapon "designed to damage space or natural ecosystems (such as the ionosphere and upper atmosphere) or climate, weather, and tectonic systems with the purpose of inducing damage or destruction upon a target population or region on earth or in space"
Still don't believe they exist?

Hey guy, us "Conspiracy Theorists" know there are both Contrails and Chemtrails. There is a big difference between the two and if you actually watched the skies, you would see it with your own eyes. Anyways, everyone is open to their own opinion and I will respect that, so why don't you try doing the same. I find it funny how we are trying to warn you all of what is going on, yet you scoff and laugh. It is yours and your families lives you are jeopardizing with such criticism. Why don't you do a little research into the "Space Preservation Act of 2001" where it is listed as an exotic system designed to destroy the upper atmospher / ionsphere. The following that would occur would be major weather anomalies (Sound familiar?) and it would let the cosmic rays of the sun that harm us, through the atmospher and it would cause us cancer. One might say, "Wouldn't that hurt them to?" My answer is no. Have you ever seen any of these rich politicians that are way up on the ladder come down with any diseases or illnesses that kill them. The answer is no. I wonder why that is :) Anyways, like I said, I respect your decision to stay ignorant and follow the crowd as with the rest of the "Sheeple." My only advice to you though would be to get a proper education and grasp on reality, because you are quite delusional my friend!

The Chemtrails Bill:
Rep Kucinich Rewrites HR 2977 - 'Chemtrails' Disappear
By Lorie Kramer, seektress@ev1.net, January 27, 2002
The "Space Preservation Act of 2001" originally introduced in the House by Rep. Dennis Kucinich as HR 2977 has been re-written.
The new, revised bill, HR 3616, "Space Preservation Act of 2002" was introduced January 23, 2002.
Re-writing bills is a common enough practice as a bill goes through the legislative process. However, the differences between HR 2977 and HR 3616 are more than just a few tweaks here or there.
By its conspicuous appearance in 2977, the term 'chemtrails' received a form of credibiity within the official government process never seen before...producing the hope that one courageous Representative had finally had the fortitude to take the issue of chemtrails to a level of Congressional scrutiny long overdue.
Even though chemtrails are sprayed/deployed in the 2-6 mile high range, and not the 60 mile altitude stated in 2977, the simple fact of their inclusion in Kucinich's 2977 list of weapons systems was deemed a major breakthrough by tens of thousands of citizens and researchers across the country who have been monitoring and investigating the spraying going on in the skies of America for the past three years.
In Rep. Kucinich's revised new (some woud say 'emasculated') Bill, HR 3616, there is no longer any mention whatever of:
• chemtrails,
• particle beams
• electromagnetic radiation
• plasmas
• ELF

Dear Ha & lolly,
If these dangerous chemtrails are raining death, destruction & tectonic activity (I'd like to know how an incredibly diluted chemical in the air affects sub-terranian earth, but I digress) on "target populations" of the earth, how come only we sceptics are doomed? Ha says: It is yours and your families lives you are jeopardizing with such criticism.
Do you guys have magic beanies that protect you? Or do you wear crystals that repel the evil aerosols?
Ha also implies that upper eschelon politicians in America apparently have beanies. Ha says:
Have you ever seen any of these rich politicians that are way up on the ladder come down with any diseases or illnesses that kill them. The answer is no.
Well, gee, didn't Ron Reagan have Alzheimer's disease? And, hmmm, isn't a presidential candidate's wife fighting cancer at this very moment? Maybe those guys missed the meeting to learn the Safety Dance of Protection Against Chemtrails.

Chemtrails. Hurumph! What is scary about this otherwise amusing fiction is that as we see in previous posts, some folks actually believe this crap.

It just boggles the mind how anyone can deny chemtrails. I was in a jet and saw them from the sky looking down. They look like long white lines with bumps on top.. and they were white with a brownish tint. What really scared me is that I saw a jet flying under us spewing the white stuff. Since we were going in the opposite direction, I could see the path continue for miles and miles as it feathered out. Yet there were other planes in the same airspace, and that was the only one that spewed a white gas/liquid. Why?

We all saw the chemtrails today up near Newcastle, North/East coast of Australia. A group of us saw an aircraft at 11am spraying vapours, then again in same spot at 5pm. The sky was full of them, and they were very different and distinguishably different to the clouds, we saw it all unfold over a whole day watching. Interestingtly a thunderstorm came tonight, but unusually very little rain, so we assume they are keen to spray before the storm, to prevent the rain, to keep us in a drought.

I'm sorry, all these people blathering about 'chemtrails': Which is the scenario which requires the least assumptions (i.e. the simplest):
1) Trails left behind planes are a result of a well-documented and understood phenomenon that you can have explained in your garden variety science textbook
2) "They" are engaging in a massive secret program to do something (something being mind-control, droughts, weather mitigation, whatever). This program is secret enough to make sure no one comes out with any actual evidence of it, but the same "they" apparently don't care if people post 'firsthand' accounts on the internet.
Consider: if the government really wanted to test weather mitigation, or other ominous sounding things, don't you think they could use the 15% of US land occupied by the government (much of which is a no-fly zone)? Don't you think they could, I don't know, use planes for that specific purpose? Do you really think they're going around to commuter airlines and engaging in this nonsense?
Seriously, I know you're afraid of immunization shots, but you need to get a booster shot against paranoia.

Loved this episode.
1st let me adress a fact omitted. Of course its ok to omit fact for simplicity. Water wapour at room temperature at sea level has a volume of 1700 times liquid water. So burning a gallon of fuel produces 1700 gallons of water vapor. Put this wapour into 25000 feet and you get another picture all together. You figure it out, I'm just to lazy to do the math myself.
Ok another fact. Chemtrails do excist. If you go to a large field during spring and summer you can sometimes see helicopters and airplanes spraying the crop against harmful insects. They are real factual chemtrails. How many miles can they cover before filling up their chemtanks ? Certainly not as many as a commercial airliner can produce contrails.
Here is another fact. When you spray anything from a plane at some altitude, the trail disappears quickly. Why ? Because it is drops of chemicals. Small drops allright, but still drops. What happen to drops ? They fall. Falling objects fall at speed depending on their surface area to weight ratio, and they join to form bigger drops, and they drift apart, thus reducing the visibility of the trail. Vapor on the other hand behaves differently. Thats why contrails stay in the air much longer.
I have seen thousands of times clouds form around moutain tops. If I was as paranoid as some chemtrail believers, I would think some of that clouds where manmade. I could tell real clouds from the harmful because I can see that some clouds are different.

This article is complete dog shit, sorry buddy but i am aware of what a normal contrail is, and i know that even they can last for up to an hour under the best conditions. While chemtrails can hang around for the better part of the day and move across entire towns, you can watch them leave and wave goodbye to them. They are spraying a reflective material that's purpose is to combat global warming. It's not a rare occasion to see a plane pass with a chemtrail and then have a second plane pass at the same altitude with a normal contrail which disappears 1000 times faster when due to the environmental factors it should have in fact lasted longer then the first planes trail....which of course by now has spread into a huge shitcloud. Get off your ass and get into your car and follow the damn things if you don't believe me. I hate this ridiculous crap spouted from either retards or disinfo agents.

"I hate this ridiculous crap spouted from either retards or disinfo agents." Right with you durka. You have at least got the order of the words right, even if the context was as wrong as you can get.
I really don't understand how someone who is obviously intelligent enough to own and operate a computer can fall for this completely childish silliness. And don't say that its because chemtrails are real, because unless you are talking about agricultural cropdusting, they ain't.
All I ever see is paranoia and delusion, not evidence. Contrails= Water vapour.
Really, just sit down, and have a think about what would need to happen for this fantasy to be actuality.
Perhaps it might be a good idea to spray some areas with a chemical. I strongly suggest Lithium.

I must say I had never heard of "Chemtrails" before I listen to this episode. I did my own research and formed an opinion. What strikes me especially when it comes to the German sites which tackle this issue is that all the pro-chemtrail sites only quote each other and/or some obscure new age magazines.
The whole thing is just, well, nothing but hot air.
I also published an article in a German open-blog-project and man, did I drew flag. The name-calling you mentioned started almost immidiately. Basically everyone who is not pro-chemtrail is just a misguided fool... Some people will never learn.
Marcus, Munich/Germany
September 20, 2008 11:07am
OK, fair enough but what about the footage where the 'contrail' stops and then starts again? That wouldnt happen.
What about the pictures of the various patterns that have been seen that could ony be man made and would not be the flight path of any commercial jet etc.
And when the planes viewed from the ground are just specks, i.e. all high enough to form contrails, how come some planes leave them and some dont??
Leeroy, Spalding
October 21, 2008 7:38am
Contrails require a specific set of circumstances to form. If conditions aren't right, the water vapor from the jet engines is just an invisible gas, and the jet leaves no trail. If jet exhaust is thrust into air with the right combination of humidity and temperature, a contrail will form. Since the atmosphere is not constant, some days have a higher likelihood of contrails forming than others. Also, planes flying at different altitudes, or through different patches of sky, can be experiencing different air conditions (think of turbulence, which can quickly pop up and disappear because of air/wind conditions). This explains your first and third questions.
I have never seen pictures of contrails that look like they could not be made by commercial jets. If you could post a link to these pictures, I could take a look at them. Off the top of my head, I have three guesses. One, the patterns are random lines left by jets, but with some wind distortion and imagination, they look like a recognizable form. Second, The pictures have been photoshopped for fun or to trick people. Three, the pictures are of skywriting.
Without seeing the pictures, I can't really say what is going on. I still believe that the above are pretty good guesses though.

Chemtrails are real. Just as the Great Moon Conspiracy. You probably never heard of that since it is one of the most wel kept secrets in history and the goverment will probably delete this post very quickly so count yourself lucky if you are still able to read it.
You see: the moon has actually always been a giant alien spaceship used to monitor earth and send UFO's to abduct people (like Jesus Christ, Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy, whose assasination was faked). The government knows about all this but keep it quiet because they have a deal with the aliens: if they keep their existence a secret the aliens will give them acces to powerfull military weapons, like contact lenses that shoot lasers.
This story is nothing but the absolute truth, and don't you close-minded skeptics dare to critise it!

You can see the official website here:

They State they operate out of Alaska probably wanting to be as close to the HAARP system as possible since the chemtrails cause the plasma sky which is superheated by the HAARP for the desired effect
I hate is the metal smell that is on my clothes when I come in from outside and the depopulation aspect also has me concerned.
Anyway just wanted to share the website. I’m actually happy it’s not the crystalized engine exhaust or con densention trails just lasting longer these days. I don’t know how I would drive on the highway in the winter with all those long spreading white trails of car exhaust on the road. Do you?

"Marshall Law" I went to that website and it is a program to OBSERVE clouds, aerosols and particulates.
To quote from the site: "An intensive cloud and aerosol observing system obtained airborne measurements during the Indirect and Semi-Direct Aerosol Campaign (ISDAC) at the ACRF North Slope of Alaska locale in April 2008."

One of my biggest criticism of the the Skeptic Movement is that is seems to be always debunking the most hair brains things. Then you come across an article on something so ridiculous as this and the comment section is just WOW. Sigh

I'm not going to pretend to know whether chemtrails exist or not, however it has been declassified now that Porton Down in Wiltshire, Surrey, England sprayed zinc cadmium sulphide across various parts of the UK during the 50's, 60's and 70's (source:http://www.nr23.net/govt/spray.htm) thats one particular source but theres more if you are willing to look. anyway if they did it to an extent years ago, then who is to say governments aren't capable of spraying over populations nowadays

Chemtrailers know so little science that they are universally pseudoscientists. They understand so little of our atmosphere (and generally so little about organization and business) that ninety-nine cases out of a hundred "confident" statements these people make are incorrect, the exact opposite of the truth, no "white lies" here - they are are GREAT BIG PORK PIES.
Even a stopped clock is correct twice a day. but these people are clockes so slow that they will never be correct again. Let's summarize at little:
GRIDS: the airline industry GRIDS the mid West SOLIDLY with a dense timetable of shuttle flights.
ON-OFF: turbofan engines are the ultimate in smoothness and precision. The weather that passes through them varies from dry deserts, tropical rainstorms, to high cold stratospheres more than a 100% saturated with respect to ice. In the latter case you'll get a VERY THICK WHITE PERSISTENT TRAIL. The rest of the time - the weather is ordinarily variable - and so will the trail be.
GERMANY - was a "chaff" incident by two Dutch aircraft. Chaff isn't contrails.
MOD Porton Down - sprayed harmless but identifiable material to formulate their defense plans against Soviet chemical or bacterial attack during the Cold War.
US EXPERIMENTS on people - have been volunteers only.
KUCHINICH HIMSELF changed his bill: it had been drawn up by over-eager staff.
KSLA CHEMTRAILS - were trays left to pick up rain/dust for a month in a barium-mining area.
And so on - ad bloody infinitum !

Having only just caught up on all skeptoid episodes I'd assumed someone would have replied correctly to Brian's quiz on when do F and K scales cross over.
Well the above poster has rounded to the dearest tenth of a degree. We can do better.
By definition C=K-273.15
This means F=K at 574.5875
Precisely.
Now in case anyone quibbles about significant figures, the -273.15 is a definition. Hence it is effectively as many significant figures as you care to use.
So I claim the prize. Mr Dunning can you withdraw the prize and restore it to its rightful owner.
Thank you.

I'm new to Skeptoid, starting from the beginning. I just read the episode on chemtrails. Brian, you made the comment that contails do not affect the weather. In a recent NOVA broadcast on "Dimming the sun" http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sun/, discusses David Travis' research on the effect of contrails on global cooling. According to the broadcast, the ice crystals act like cirrus clouds cooling the atmosphere. During the grounding of planes after 9/11 he discovered that "the days had become warmer and the nights cooler, with the overall range greater by about two degrees Fahrenheit." (quote from broadcast. He attributes this to the contrails.
Have you done any research into this? I have been trying to research this to get deeper information but cannot seem to find sources.
I am enjoying skeptoid podcasts and am trying to catch up to current podcasts.

Nice job on the podcasts.
As an airline pilot I was dumfounded by this ridiculous proposition. Given the incredible scrutiny that goes into every airplane's system change and the mounds of paperwork involved in any such change, it would require a cover up of far greater proportions than even suggested here.
My airline and all others employ contract workers in "out" stations where the airline has no mechanics. They, too, would have to be a part of it. Don't forget that Boeing (or Airbus or whoever) has to be in on any changes to their aircraft systems as do many, MANY people in the FAA.
Then there's the NTSB people, a more altruistic bunch of people you won't find, who would have to be briefed in the event one of these airplanes was involved in any mishaps. And they get involved in nearly every mishap where metal is scraped on an airliner.
I have always found these conspiracy theories to be the first big red flag of a limited intellect. Not that they're dumb, but it's a red flag that I should be a bit more skeptical of anything else they say.
Keep up the GREAT work!

It is a matter of public record in the UK that the MoD did conduct experiments involving the release of chemicals and micro-organisms over the population. This 2002 article from the Observer (a fairly well respected newspaper over here) has the details: http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2002/apr/21/uk.medicalscience
However, this does not prove the Chemtrail theory one way or another. I have a few issues with the Chemtrail theory:
1) If you were going to do it, you’d want no evidence – so therefore no Chemtrail at all.
2) You’d use your Air Force to carry out the “mission” – using commercial airlines would be too much of a security risk.
3) Chemicals (etc.) would need to be released at a very low level to have an effect on the populace.
If the US (or other governments) are conducting experiments like those conducted in Britain, I very much doubt what you see in the sky is evidence of them.

This episode put me in a silly mood, which I can only imagine was it's main, perhaps only, point. There's almost nothing to debunk, no evidence is provided for it, it's not well known, it's pure entertainment.

""I pretended to be a DJ at the sound of the music throughout that first story""
Putting that kind of music over their ridiculous propositions is a common CT-er thing, for some reason.
Watch Loose Change some day, and they play rock/techno music over slo-mo footage of the WTC towers falling down. I kid you not.

Hi, I will have to point out just a couple things. 1) there is cloud seeding technology, as I have read the patents and there have been numerous documentaries on the subject. 2) Solar cycle 24 is happening right now, that means reduced sunspot activity = more radiation is getting to the earth. (there is also supposedly a CME coming soon and while a lot of doom sayers will probably point to 2012 its probably better to just generalise to 'sometime in the future' as calandars are not really the perfect time keeping device, especially if we keep changing them. Therefore I feel that current 'chemtrailing' is little more than cloud seeding to protect us from bad solar effects. We have had many events like this before, and there was cloud seeding in the 70's era* - solar cycles are 11 years so 3 of these cycles ago would place it in at 1977.
*I've seen various images from the 70's, but you will have to confirm for yourself like all information.
I believe the trails exist, and they are benevolent. They will hopefully subside after the sun goes back to normal.
Peace

With all due respect you have not done due diligence, and apparently you are rathe biased. Chemtrails are absolutely real and over out heads on a daily basis in NJ, and rest assured, we DO know the difference between the two, as you CAN clearly see it. I also recommend you to go outside when its dark at night after your've seen "your" type of contrails, light up a 3-5 million candle lights spot light toward the sky and look that is flying in the beam.. May be then you would believe, but least likely, because you are not going this for doing the right thing, most likely you ARE getting paid. Sincerely.bb

What's the most important thing about Skeptoid?

You've left out the most abhorrent aspects of the "chemtrail" nonsense. Many of the nuts believe the trails cause disease, and this is part of some genocidal program.
Of course, this requires tens of thousands of people in government and the aviation business to be evil on the same scale as Totenkopf SS men, but apparently chemtrain enthusiasts are fine with that.
The two most repellent features of the chemtrail madness (one hesitates to even call it a "theory") are that it is so obviously idiotic, and that its believers apparently have complete contempt for most of their fellow citizens.
